YAWN: The Yonkers Art Weekend (YAW) Laid A Homeowner Funded Goose Egg

YONKERS: Clearly, the city of hills is losing its reputation as an artistic hub in the region as the city's once thriving arts community of local artists, is pushed aside and ignored.

At one time #YAW was a festival filled with exciting new programs, workshops, exhibitions focused on local YOHO Artists and the city's Carpet Mills Arts District - CMAD; which was a walkable museum of sorts.

#YonkersArtsWeekend is funded by The City of Yonkers, who in recent years has allowed the Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront BID to shift the focus to a couple of out of town gallery owners that have a reputation for lackluster exhibitions.

Failed efforts to prop up the uninteresting and tedious event include adding the Hudson RiverMuseum, Untermyer Gardens Conservancy and Sarah Lawrence College Center for the Urban River at Beczak - but all of this has taken away the focus from the local #YOHO artists at #CMAD.
